Awakening can be simple and easy, effortless even
If you simply understand what it is and what causes it.
It is simply a natural process made conscious after all
Awakening is not rocket science,
It can be easy to understand and relate to, *if you look at it from the right point of view
it is effortless and immediate, the moment of awakening itself is a fraction of a second *it is a shift of attention just like shifting our attention from being mindful of the phone we're holding to being mindful of the room we're standing in.
it is absolutely natural since it is our original default mode as babies, which quickly gets replaced by the mode of personal identity
it requires no meditation or skills whatsoever *meditation can be more useful after awakening
the unfolding of the ego following initial awakenings can be a confused, painful and drawn-out period, but it has much greater chances of being a smoother and quicker experience if we have a way of thoroughly understanding the process
The belief that awakening is difficult, should take a long time, and is reserved for the very few most avid meditators is deeply rooted in most spiritual traditions, for good reasons, but is nothing but a myth.

My Awakening story
My name is Patrice Berube, I grew up as an introvert in a small town in Quebec, Canada in the 80's.
A major bout with depression after college had me feeling absolutely dejected and hopeless about the future. This made me turned inward even more, becoming philosophical and existential, trying to make sense of the world, trying to work out why people do what they do.
Relocating to a different part of the country gave me a fresh start in life. There I met new friends, got married, and adopted a couple of little dogs which lifted the depression temporarily, but it didn't end my quest to understand the human mind.
After a few vipassana retreats and thousands of hours listening to various teachers from so many traditions, watching Dharma talks and Satsangs spread over a little less than a decade, everything began to click.
Eventually, using the Daniel Ingram vipassana approach, the experience of "cessation" happened and from then on, a corner was turned. Life would not be the same ever again.
This permanently and profoundly changed me and my approach to spirituality.
The next few years were spent waking up from personhood, and abiding in the natural space/infinity/buddha nature/this/here and now/reality as it is. Meaning the ego was seen for what it was and dissolved as a result.
This eventually led to the day the sense of a separation, the feeling of “me” to drop from the experience altogether. This is what Buddhists refer to as “No-self”
But even this wasn't the end, more subtle refinements were to come in the year that followed and even today, but it marked the end of existing as an identity lost in a big world, the end of being someone and the beginning of just being.
It was the end of me, the beginning of authentic love and natural freedom.
Now I spend my time working, enjoying life and guiding others to recognize their true self and free themselves from themselves, from their own egos.
